"Walking by the seaside of life" Is a project where I have collected photographs from many years ago taken by the sea. The project offers a way to connect the stories to an ongoing life, for inspiration to continue the creation of new works in the future.

"Walking by the seaside of life"

I am in the house. Looking for the pictures I took a very long time ago. The children have moved out and somewhere there they are; the boxes, a little everywhere. The pictures carefully wrapped in tissue paper by my teacher, Verdi and the ones that I copied during my stay in London for many years and in various small darkrooms in Stockholm basements.

Here I find motifs of my sister, mother, myself, acquaintances and strangers. They are the photographs I took with my first camera, on the beach a couple of miles outside Kristianstad, where I partly grew up.

I collect the pictures. Only gradually does the whole from which they came reveal itself. Categorizing, sorting, small and large. Soon they are in another box.

I hear the voices, feel the scent. The sea is close. In the noise of the sea we move to catch up with the waves.

Here are fragments of stories and I find a comfort and desire for the creation of new works in the future.

The project becomes a way to retrieve what has been, to connect the events to an ongoing life.

The pictures were taken at the sea between 1986 and 2016. They were taken during various trips in southern Europe, Finland and Sweden.

"Walking by the seaside of life" consists of approx. 50 pieces. black and white photographs and a couple of texts in the form of poems.

At The Artist Co-op. www.kkv.nu, in Stockholm, I work with the production of the photographs. Here I develop and copy the images in the darkroom. Here is also an old letterpress that I am working with to create single words, taken from poems that describe some of the photographs.
