A friend told Herlinde that to be an artist, you need time.
As a young mother and photographer, time was indeed her biggest obstacle. So his statement stuck. If creation is the product of hard work, isn't being a mother precisely the ultimate body of work? She gave three of her friends, all mothers and artists, a notebook with questions and captured the familiar repetition that is motherhood: feeding, playing, strolling, swimming, bathing, sleeping… These moments coincided with communal reflection. What does it mean to be a mother and an artist? Time no longer felt utopian, but was the key. How do you spend your time? In the everyday, in the present, in the balance of caring and creating.

A collaborative project initiated by Herlinde Raeman with Meg Remy (U.S.Girls), Jennifer Hazel, Lulu Hazel Turnbull, Lou, Clyde, Temple, Marcello, Fifi, and Nick Moons, and with the kind support of Tali Hinkis, Jaco, and Christa.
