Sulyap - Filipino for "glimpse" - is an ongoing record of ordinary life in the Philippines. Made across decades, these unposed photographs follow fleeting expressions, gestures, and encounters before they disappear.
Created across several decades, Sulyap observes ordinary people in the streets, communities, and public spaces of the Philippines - in moments of work, rest, faith, play, and connection.
The photographs are candid and unposed. Working quietly and often from a distance, I wait for gestures, expressions, and relationships to reveal themselves naturally. I am less interested in perfect scenes than in honest moments - the brief human encounters that appear and disappear before they can be repeated.
Together, these images form a personal visual memory of the Philippines: not a complete portrait of the country, but a collection of fleeting observations shaped by time, place, and human expression.
