SANGUIS ET RADICES

Sanguis er Radices is an expression of individual feebleness and desperation in the time when history is on a verge of a turning point

As I photographically meditate on an object, in this case, dried roots of a dead plant, I try to get a grasp of how my mental state is reflected on my perception of that object.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine has started on February 24, 2022. Even though I am not directly impacted in any way and have immigrated from Russia to North America over ten years go, I cannot stop thinking of the tragedy, and ultimately, the grief manifests itself in seemingly untraceable ways.

“Sanguis et radices” (which translates from Latin as "Blood and roots") is an emotional manifestation, an expression of individual feebleness and desperation in the time when history is on a verge of a turning point.
