Process of healing

Shot in summer 2022. My idea was to capture girlhood but in the sense we haven't seen it before juxtaposing documentary look with staged scenes of what healing in community looks like in a mystical and ritualistic but yet very modern way.

This story focuses on softness, in between moments and ability to be together. Water has been an important subject in my photography practice that I often like to revisit working with its color, texture, and the way light is able to penetrate it yet not be invasive. In a way, it is a forth subject. Using water as a base to explore what modern day rituals look like and what modern community looks like, shot mostly underwater, I created these stills to serve as a visual lullaby combining scenes with motion and physical activity that have direct meaning of healing with calming color palette emphasizing all the skin tones as well as blues, turquoise, light purples and greens.
