Lived Geography
Lived Geography is a long-term photographic project that investigates the phenomenological relationship between people and the mountainous geography of Kurdistan. Rather than approaching the landscape as a passive backdrop, the project understands geography as an active force that participates in the formation of subjectivity, memory, and a sense of belonging.
Through everyday encounters between people and the mountains, the photographs explore how geography shapes the ways people perceive the world, experience place, and develop relationships with the environments they inhabit. Moving beyond narratives of conflict or victimhood, the project approaches the mountainous geography of Kurdistan as a lived world, where place is not simply occupied but continuously experienced, embodied, and remembered.
