"If I knew It All Then, Would I Do It Again?" is a photo project about Gen Z coming of age. Through portraits, texts, and youth-related places, it explores their emotional world and highlights the importance of mental health in this phase of life.
The work "If I knew It All Then, Would I Do It Again?" explores the coming-of-age experience of Generation Z and their emotional world. It serves as a search for visible and hidden influences that shape the upbringing of this generation. The focus is on 18 young people whom I portrayed in the settings of their youth. Alongside the portraits are photographs of their bedrooms, meeting places, and schools — locations that significantly influence the lives of these adolescents. The accompanying texts written by the young people make it possible to comprehend the emotional depth of this phase of life. I presented the work in the form of a photo book and an exhibition.
The central theme of my work is mental health — an invisible yet ever-present element of young people's reality. In my portraits, I strive to capture the emotional world of my subjects: their insecurities, hopes, and the complexity of their identities.
In this work I additionally examined how to create a visual narrative that addresses adolescent mental health. My goal is to initiate a dialogue between the images and the viewers, and to make the emotional world of young people visible.
