I UNFOLD MY SKIN IN THE MORNING

The project explores how bodies are shaped by digital performance and societal ideals. By contrasting an artificial, hypermasculine body with the vulnerable real one, it questions beauty standards, identity construction, and the pressure to conform.

This project emerged from a long reflection by the artist Antoine on the representation of the male body. He created an alter ego, mr_paramount, through which he performs a constructed body on sexcam platforms and presents it to an online audience. He collects words, comments, and it is through this material that his reflection on the perception of a so-called "perfect" body begins.

The body shown online is not his own. The silicone suit he wears embodies an ideal he cannot relate to, and one that, in turn, gives rise to new insecurities.

In parallel with this series of screenshots, Antoine removes the suit in a set of more composed images. These photographs allow him to explore the vulnerabilities of a body that does not conform to dominant standards. The body then undergoes a transformation, becoming something more ambiguous, even monstrous.

In conclusion, I UNFOLD MY SKIN IN THE MORNING questions how we shape and perceive our bodies through the lens of performance and societal expectations. By revealing the costume and confronting the fragilities of the real body, Antoine seeks to expose the tensions between ideal and authentic, control and surrender, the human and the monstrous. The project invites viewers to reflect on the norms that shape us and to embrace imperfection as a form of truth.
