High Noon Ride

This is about Chicago's Black Cowboys, which is an overlooked history going back generations but is not widely known and rarely represented in cowboy folklore.

Organized by the Broken Arrow Riding Club, this is a reunion of Chicago’s “Black Cowboys” who came out to participate in the 33rd Annual High Noon Ride & Picnic. The meetup and starting point were in Washington Park on Chicago’s South Side, riders then took their horses on a group ride east and then north along the Lakefront 21 blocks to 31st street before returning for an afternoon of music, food, and horse rides for the kids. This gathering and ride is a chance for young kids to get familiar with horses and help keep a family tradition and an overlooked bit of history going back generations alive.
