My ongoing project, “Cloud County”, is based in Concordia, Kansas and centers on the Sisters of St. Joseph. This community has been at the heart of my work since 2017.

Over a decade ago my Aunt Christina left her life behind to move to the smoky hills region of Kansas and join the Sisters of St. Joseph. Unknowingly at the time, this little town of Concordia and the Sisters themselves would soon become a pivotal part of my life.

The Sisters of St. Joseph are the primary subject of "Cloud County," but Concordia itself plays an integral role; the narrative's core lies in the relationship between the two. This project focuses on the notion of home, the resilience of sisterhood, and the aftermath of what happens when the pillars of a community are no longer.

In a time when the future of the United States feels ripe with uncertainty and fear, my continuation of this project feels more important than ever. Concordia is a perfect study of the failure of the "American Dream," and those forgotten by our government systems. A community drowned by generational poverty while still clutching onto their love of America.
