Bayangan Ayah explores the emotional terrain shaped by childhood trauma and the absence of a nurturing paternal presence. This absence is not merely a void, but a lasting imprint echoing through memory and shaping my understanding of connection, belonging

Bayangan Ayah (Father’s Shadow) is an ongoing photographic journal examining emotional absence, masculinity, and cultural inheritance through my relationship with my Chinese Indonesian father.

The project originated as a personal search for solace amidst the void left by a non-nurturing paternal figure. Initially, the work served as a therapeutic process—utilizing childhood snapshots and annotations to navigate the longing for a sense of home.
