Sundowning by BPHOTOGRAPHY

Sundowning is a photobook exploring the concept of its name: a state of increased agitation, confusion, disorientation, and anxiety that typically occurs in the late afternoon or evening in some individuals with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.

Photographed over the course of three years in the Minneapolis-St Paul metropolitan area, this work depicts a conceptual imagined version of an evening in this state. With no treatment of cure for dementia or Alzheimer’s on the horizon, Sundowning offers itself as a vessel to channel both the complex situations ahead and the beauty of hope.
