DEAR naozo,

Do you truly

Know yourself

That is what

I would ask

People

Wish to understand themselves

Their strength

Their potential

Their essence

Yet

Sometimes

I wonder

Whether people

Know themselves

Not through thinking

But through choosing

People

Can speak of ideals

Can speak of desires

Can speak of the future

Yet

What truly matters

Is not what was spoken

But what could not

be abandoned

A touchstone

Does not change a person

It reveals

What was hidden

What did you protect

When life became difficult

What did you continue

to hold

When everything was slipping away

What did you return to

When you stood alone

There

You will find yourself

People

Do not know themselves

Through ideals

They know themselves

Through what they cannot lose

So

I do not say

Stop searching

Nor do I say

Stop doubting

I say only this

Look

At yourself

When you were tested

At the self

You could not disguise

There

Part of the answer

Already exists

Awareness

Is not the gain

Of something new

It is the recognition

Of something

That was always there

That is what I believe
