Two Percent of Public

My practice regards the body as a "social interface." From clinical nursing to art therapy and traveling nursing, I have consistently sought to ground individual dignity in the tight gaps of a heavily disciplined society.

Against the vast total surface of the Earth and layer upon layer of locked-down urban public spaces, I have chosen an almost absurd yet perfectly precise microscopic measurement: within a 100-square-metre plaza, I occupy only two percent of its area. This 2% of space is no concession begging for favour, but a forceful incursion and a declaration of sovereignty—it inherently belongs to every person.

Built as a mobile shelter assembled from discarded materials and hand-planed wooden planks, it holds no aesthetic objects for idle contemplation. Within the urban fabric tightly disciplined by capital and order, this space woven from rough discarded materials forms a tangible structure that confronts exclusion, carving out a thoroughly genuine "autonomous zone" in the cracks of pervasive surveillance.

This practice finds its origin in Dong Yu, my first client as a travelling nurse. As my very first companion throughout my career in art therapy and travelling nursing, his lived experience and concrete physical presence gave this exhibition its initial warmth, weight, and an indisputable anchor in reality.
