Revisiting her earlier project A Home With No Roof, the artist explores memory, domestic space, and the ways places preserve traces of the past.
Overview
Under A Home With No Roof by Sara De Brito Faustino revisits her previous project A Home With No Roof. Rather than simply re-presenting the work, the artist reuses fragments of it in a new installation conceived specifically for the gallery.
The exhibition takes over FOCALE's basement, a former wine cellar that becomes a space of storage and memory. Treating the installation like a move from one home to another, De Brito Faustino brings together earlier works while allowing them to take on new meanings within a different architectural setting.
Continuing an ongoing investigation into home, domestic space, and their surrounding environments, the exhibition reflects on how memories become attached to places, and how spaces themselves can reshape the way we remember. Through photography and analogue interventions, Under A Home With No Roof considers what remains after a place has been left behind and how images continue to carry those traces.
About The Artist
Sara De Brito Faustino is a Lausanne-based artist and an ECAL graduate. Working primarily with analogue photography, she explores the relationship between images, memory, and architecture by constructing carefully staged environments that question what a photograph can contain. Following her Françoise Champoud Prize in 2024, she presented her first solo exhibition A Home With No Roof, later published as a monograph. Her work has been exhibited at Photo Elysée, Centre de la photographie Genève, Les Rencontres d'Arles, and LUMA Arles, and she was nominated for FOAM Talent 2026.
