San Agustín Photography Prize 2026

San Agustín, a specialty coffee roaster in León, Spain, presents the first San Agustín Photography Prize: an international, no-fee award for documentary photography on the theme Espera (Waiting). €2,000 prize. Opens 1 September 2026.

About the Prize

The San Agustín Photography Prize is an international documentary photography award created and fully funded by San Agustín, a specialty coffee roaster based in León, Spain. Founded as an act of cultural patronage, the prize has no entry fee and is open to photographers worldwide. Its purpose is to support documentary work that looks closely and patiently at the world.

The Theme: Espera

The first edition is dedicated to the theme Espera — "waiting." Waiting is one of the quietest and most universal human conditions: the pause before something changes, the time held between a cause and its consequence. The prize invites photographers to explore waiting in all its forms — in landscapes, in labour, in the lives of others, and in the patient passing of time.

Prize and Conditions

The laureate will receive a prize of €2,000. There is no entry fee. The award is open to documentary photographers internationally, regardless of career stage or nationality.

Jury

The submitted work will be evaluated by a jury of three: Lisa Palper, Nicolás Fernández, and Julián Rus.

How to Enter

Submissions are open from 1 September 2026 to 28 February 2027. Full guidelines and the entry form are available at sanagustin.com/premio.
