Overview

Each issue is central to a specific theme and provides a gallery of inspiring imagery, focusing on each artist with their own experience to share. With an eye towards beauty, quality and novelty, they strive to promote portfolios that stand out for their unique visual signature style and character. Their goal is to help photographers get the exposure they deserve and to inspire others with ideas, projects and goals to help develop their own photography.

Practical Info

AAP Magazine welcomes street photographers. The street never stops telling stories. A stranger's glance, a shadow cutting across pavement, the chaos of rush hour or the hush of an empty corner at 3am — street photography catches the world when it isn't posing. This is your invitation to show how you see it. Today, capturing the pulse of urban life is both a celebrated art form and a vital way of communicating the heart of a society and its people.

Applicants are invited to submit a cohesive body of work or portfolio exploring street life in any way they choose. AAP welcomes all approaches, styles, and interpretations, from traditional documentary photography to conceptual, experimental, digital, and analog processes. Black and white, color, and monochromatic treatments are all welcome.

The award is open to professional and amateur photographers from all over the world who are invited to send up to 40 images. You can take advantage of the Early Bird Deadline due on 8 September.

1st place winner will receive a cash prize of $500 and will have a full portfolio published in AAP Magazine Volume 61: Street; 2nd place winner will receive a cash prize of $300; and 3rd place winner will receive a cash prize of $200. The next 23 winners (ranked from 4 to 25) will have their best image(s) or portfolio featured in AAP Magazine Volume 61: Street.
