2026 Paris Photo–Aperture PhotoBook Awards

The Paris Photo–Aperture PhotoBook Awards celebrate excellence in photobook publishing, awarding works across three categories and offering international recognition, exhibition at Paris Photo, and a $10,000 top prize.

Overview

The Paris Photo–Aperture PhotoBook Awards are an annual celebration of the photobook’s central role within photographic storytelling. Each year, nearly one thousand books by artists and publishers from around the world are submitted and considered for the prize.

The awards are presented across three categories. First PhotoBook, PhotoBook of the Year, and Photography Catalog of the Year. The awards highlight the photobook’s role as both an artistic object and a medium for narrative expression, with shortlisted titles exhibited at Paris Photo and presented to an international jury.

Practical Info

The awards are open to photographers, artists, publishers, and institutions worldwide. Entries must be submitted with a physical copy of each photobook and a completed application form including publication details, credits, dimensions, edition size, and a cover image. Entry fees start at $30 per book for First PhotoBook. For the other categories, fees are $60 for the first entry per publisher and $30 for each additional entry. Early bird rates apply from 10 June 10 to 10 July 2026.

The First PhotoBook Prize awards $10,000 to the photographer or artist of the best debut photobook, with twenty shortlisted titles exhibited at Paris Photo. The PhotoBook of the Year Prize recognizes the best photobook by both artist and publisher, with ten shortlisted titles exhibited. The Photography Catalog of the Year Prize is awarded to the best exhibition catalogue or museum publication, with five shortlisted titles exhibited at Paris Photo.
