World of Membrane

What is photography beyond the visual and the symbolic? When we closely review each encounter with the object, we feel that there is a tactile space where the subject gradually approaches the subject, and how can such a dynamic process be reproduced?

How can a photograph show what we see and what we are seen at the same time? When we suspend our vision in a particular space and time, we perceive that the object surrounds us in a certain way, and the subject embraces the object simultaneously. In the mutual contact between the subject and the object, we are transported to a possibility of the world, hence the membrane of perception unfolds.

This series of artworks tries to represent the perception on natural things in daily life through the form of thermoplastic acrylic. Between folds and bulges, elements such as nature, situation, gesture, and emotion are restored. The work retraces the contemplative movement of vision on the object, as if the body and the photographed object are tightly bonded like skin, forming a special present presence.

For the photography we are accustomed to, space is naturally compressed into symbols. However, the method in this work stops this "natural process", reminding the viewer to re-observe our experience, and try to represent the spatial elements that are missing in those moments. Therefore, the photographic image is no a longer pure result, but rather the process of trying to recover a direct and original connection with the world, where vision and movement are intertwined, and our interaction with the world is recorded.
