Сommunion with Nonduality
On February 24, the world changed. Panic, frustration, anxiety, fear hung in the air. In the spring, I once again went to the Crimea to visit my relatives. (I have friends and relatives living in both countries in Ukraine and Russia. But even in Russia, citizens were divided into two parts: those who are against the war and those who are for.)
To get my mind off dark thoughts and hide from the screaming news agenda, I started shooting black-and-white landscapes with a half-frame camera.
Tension, numerous unanswered questions (or the inability to influence events in the world) led me to study various spiritual traditions and practices. In an attempt to transcend the cognition and situations of current life, I took up transcendental meditation. And the philosophical doctrine of non-duality Advaita made me think about the nature of reality.
When I came back to Moscow, I continued to shoot.
I look through the lens of the camera detached and dispassionate without focusing on anything in particular. The pinnacle of my attention is directed inward, hoping to find a foothold. Then it is possible to detect a fold in space and time. And then reality loses its duality.
Now I continue to work on the project, but not in Russia anymore.
