My photographic work explores the mystery of female identity and motherhood through photography and collage. Set against the vastness of the ocean, my images move between reality and dreams, beyond imposed social roles.

Over the past year, my photographic practice has explored the sense of mystery and dreamlike quality that inhabits my subjects, particularly female figures. Through my gaze, I seek to reveal their individuality, freeing them from the social roles and expectations that so often define them. Motherhood, set against the vastness of the ocean, is a recurring motif in my work, embodying a tension between the desire to protect and the necessity of confronting the unknown.

Through my photographs, I seek to portray mothers not only in moments of motherhood, but also in the quieter moments that shape them as women: moments of waiting, romantic longing, reflection, or simply pausing for a cigarette. These in-between moments, often overlooked, offer glimpses of a self that exists beyond the demands of motherhood. Having been raised by a mother who did not work outside the home and devoted herself to raising all her children, I grew up observing her both in her role as a mother and in those moments of pause, of catching her breath, of returning to herself. This intimate experience continues to inform the way I look at women and the images I choose to make.

Through these images, I explore the intimate connections women share with themselves, with others, and with the world around them. I leave some photographs untouched, preserving them as they were originally captured, while transforming others through collage techniques that allow me to shift reality and open up new narrative possibilities. In doing so, my work seeks to create a space in which women’s identities can unfold freely, beyond the representations and narratives traditionally imposed upon them.
