Laundry, Labour & Play explores how the repetitive spaces of domestic care become imaginative worlds in childhood.
Laundry, Labour & Play explores the space where domestic labour and childhood imagination meet. A pile of clothes, a laundry box and the routines of the home become a landscape for play, concealment and invention.
Through repeated encounters with the same objects and gestures, the series considers how the ordinary rhythms of care can become part of a child's imaginative world. What is repetitive work from one perspective becomes possibility from another.
The photographs are also an intimate record of looking: an attempt to pay attention to the small transformations that happen within the everyday, and to the ways childhood finds its own worlds inside the structures of home.
