Idaho Redneck

A photo essay focusing on rural America. I want to show the quirkiness of Idaho, where dignity, humor, and resilience persist despite hardship.

This work is, part critique, part reluctant homage to my experience of growing up in Idaho. During the covid epidemic, I became one of the people who moved back to their hometown to assist an elderly parent. I had mixed feelings about returning to a religious, conservative and rural area. I have channeled my inner anthropologist and tried to document the scenes of remote life and have found off-kilter moments, beauty and occasional sweetness.

Most of the photos in this collection were taken with an old point and shoot camera.
