At Arm's Length

The photographs are documentary and post-documentary, portraying singular moments that shape girls' biology and belonging during the metamorphosis of teen hood.

The years-long limbo when girls shed childhood and while testing adulthood is the focus of my project, At Arm’s Length.

The teen years are rife with discovery, disorientation, and desire. Girls begin to hold their parents at an arm’s length away, not yet letting go but not letting them be held close. They grapple with male gaze, social conventions, and their own innate drivers.

The photographs are documentary and post-documentary, portraying singular moments that shape female biology and belonging during the metamorphosis of teen hood.
