, although its foliage is kissed by the sky takes inspiration from the poem El pi de Formentor by Miquel Costa i Llobera. In the poem, he describes the pine trees standing on the cliffs of Formentor. Exposed to wind and the harsh conditions of Mallorca’s rocky coast, their roots are anchored into the stone, becoming a powerful symbol of endurance and strength. However, this symbolic image is under threat, as the pines across Mallorca are increasingly affected by pine processionary caterpillars that defoliate and weaken the trees. This work was developed in Mallorca, in direct relation to this landscape.

In this work, the human body mirrors the pine, upright and exposed, seemingly strong, yet its fragility seeps through. Stone forms a third element within this relationship. The cliffs that hold the pines appear solid and enduring, shaped slowly over long periods of time. Yet even stone erodes, cracks, and changes. Tree, body, and stone form layered scales of existence. Each appears enduring yet also contains its own form of fragility. All are ultimately finite, existing within a temporal horizon that cannot be foreseen.
