A Spring Rain

A Spring Rain. After grandma passing, I interrogate memory through relics, AIGC dreams, blurred photos—a visual poem of love and forgetting. Like rain-fogged glass, these images preserve not reality but our wish to piece it together.

In the wake of my grandmother’s passing, I attempt to interrogate the essence of memory through the photographic medium. Still lifes of her personal relics, terminal dreams reconstructed via AIGC, and intentionally obscured archival photographs converge to form a visual poem of love and oblivion. In her twilight years, as her memory grew disordered, she could no longer recognize the faces of her kin. Her fragmented memory resembled the view through a rain-streaked, fogged windowpane—silhouettes lingered, yet features dissolved. This compelled me to re-examine the significance of the image: what it preserves is perhaps never reality itself, but rather our yearning to piece reality back together. As damp air blurs these images, the heavy burden of parting becomes as weightless as dust.
