A daily monochrome photo-poetry series by naozo. Since 2025, each work pairs a moment from everyday life with a poem from NZ, the artist's future self. Through glass, light, and silence, the series turns self-doubt into dialogue.

Day552【Touchstone】
DEAR naozo,
What do you believe in
That is what
I would ask
People
Speak of ideals
Speak of resolve
Speak of aspiration
Yet
Speaking
And proving
Are not the same
Sometimes
I wonder
Whether what tests a person
Is not hardship
But choice
When life becomes difficult
What do you protect
When things are lost
What do you refuse
to surrender
When you stand alone
What do you return to
There
A person's true worth
Appears
Aspiration
Cannot be measured
In favorable winds
Nor in praise
Nor before an audience
A touchstone
Is not hardship itself
It is
What you choose
Within hardship
People
Are not measured
By the dreams they spoke of
But by those
They refused to abandon
Not by the vows
They made
But by the price
They were willing to bear
So
Do not fear
Being tested
Without a test
Even you
May never know
The depth
Of your aspiration
I believe
A touchstone
Is not an obstacle
Blocking the road
It is the question
Asking whether
You truly wish
To walk it
What do you think

This story is a work of fiction. Except for the named individuals, all elements are products of imagination. The boundary between reality and fiction is intentionally ambiguous, and its interpretation is left to the reader.
