Overview
The Ian Parry Photojournalism Grant is an international award supporting young and emerging photojournalists at the beginning of their careers. Recipients will develop an original documentary project while receiving long-term mentorship, industry recognition, and professional opportunities.
Practical Info
The grant is open to photographers aged 24 or under, or students enrolled in a full-time photography course. Applications must include a portfolio of 12 photographs, extended captions, and a project proposal.
The recipient receives £10,000, a loan of Canon equipment, publication by The Guardian, eligibility for the Hamburg Portfolio Review and the VII Mentorship Programme, and a year-long mentorship with photojournalist Giles Duley. Additional opportunities include the Gentex Corp Personal Safety Award, a commission from Save the Children for one finalist, and promotion through the grant's international partners.
About Ian Parry Memorial Fund
Founded more than 30 years ago, the Ian Parry Photojournalism Grant was established in memory of British photojournalist Ian Parry, who was killed while covering the Romanian Revolution in 1989 at the age of 24.
